big bear/christmas/first post!

so my drive up to big bear was probabliest the most scared i have ever been. we drove through the desert, and took what's called "the back way" up the mountain. once we started our slow climb up, it began to snow. in a matter of minutes our car was covered. we attempted to put on chains, only to find out they were supposed to go on the front tires. not the back ones. well at least i know now. once we got to our cabin everything was much more relaxed. i woke up the next morning to blue skys and a city blanketed in snow. i apologize for the lack of outfit pictures in this post, it was just too cold outside to be wearing anything stylish for more then five minutes. you will notice a couple pictures of some wild animals. we went to the Moonridge Animal Park on friday, and it was just as wonderful as i had remembered. we took trips there when i was a kid, but it had been a while. the zoo takes in injured, orphaned, or behaviorally handicapped wildlife and help nurse them back to health. the majority of the animals are successfully released back into the wild. though the zoo also gives a loving and happy home to those animals that can not live in the wild on their own. while visiting the zoo i learned that they are trying to raise money to move to a bigger location. it's truly great work that they're doing, and the animals seem to be genuinely happy. i don't usually get that vibe when i visit most zoos, the animals always seem so confined. if you would like to make a donation, or even maybe just take a trip to visit the animals. you can go to their website by clicking here. my christmas was most likely one of the best so far. i'm truly lucky to have a mom with such unbelievable fashion taste. so much of my style is influenced by her. i'm planning on posting some more detailed photos of my favorite gifts. though the Jeffery Campbell wedges are probably a tie for first with the BCBG nude-fauxfur-shrug-thingamabob. (i apologize Dolce and Gabbana, the wedges you created are absolutely beautiful. but jc is just much more in my price range). the rain decided to call it quits just in time for our drive home. which made for a beautiful sunset against the red desert mountains. well i feel that i've rambled a bit much, so i'll end this post with a cute short video of some of the moonridge wolves howling.

xoxo
